Nigerian Army Spokesperson and 46 Senior Officers Promoted to Major General

In a significant development, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, has been elevated to the rank of Major General, alongside 46 other senior officers. The promotion was approved by the Army Council on December 21, 2023, and also included the advancement of 75 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier Generals.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, who serves as the Director of Army Public Relations, announced the promotions in a statement, expressing the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s congratulations to the newly promoted officers and their families.

A total of 47 Brigadier Generals, including notable figures, have been elevated to the prestigious rank of Major General. Among them are Brigadier General WB Etuk, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, Brigadier General JE Osifo, Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, and Brigadier General WM Dangana, the Commander of Sector 3 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI.

Other distinguished officers promoted to Major General include Brigadier Generals TB Ugiagbe, ASM Wase, MA Abdullahi, BI Alaya, AO Oyelade, OO Arogundade, EI Okoro, CR Nnebeife, FU Mijinyawa, MT Abdullahi, M Adamu, ND Shagaya, ME Onoja, and MO Erebulu.

The statement also outlined the elevation of Brigadier General BA Ilori, Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison Ordnance Services, Brigadier General MO Ihanuwaze, Director of Budget Army Headquarters, and Brigadier General O Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, among others.

Additionally, 75 Colonels have been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, with notable mentions including Col Nwakonobi, Chief of Staff Headquarters 3 Brigade, Col MC Akin Ojo, Commander 41 Engineer Brigade, Col BM Madaki, Deputy Director Army Headquarters Operations Monitoring Team, and Col MO Edide, Directing Staff Army War College Nigeria.

The comprehensive list also includes individuals such as Col KE Inyang, Col OO Nafiu, Col PA Zipele, Col OA Onasanya, Col MI Amatso, Col SJ Dogo, and Col JN Garba, who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their roles in various capacities within the Nigerian Army.
